About Bales College
Bales College is an independent co-educational day school welcoming pupils aged 11 to 20. Founded in 1966, originally as the Modern Tutorial College, the school moved to its current site in 1972 and is owned and governed by its principal. The school believes in the potential of every individual, aiming to help pupils achieve academic success by developing their own independent ways of working within a supportive, orderly environment. Respect, humour, energy and perseverance sit at the heart of the school's values. The school draws pupils from a wide range of backgrounds within the local area, and around one fifth of pupils are foreign nationals from a variety of countries. Support is available for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, and those for whom English is an additional language receive one-to-one and small group lessons. More able pupils are provided with additional activities within lessons, ensuring every pupil is encouraged to thrive.
