About Badminton School

Badminton School is an independent day and boarding school for girls, founded in 1858 and located on a site it has occupied since 1924. The school covers senior and sixth form years, with three boarding houses catering for different age ranges. A linked junior school shares the same site and is overseen by the same board of governors. Day pupils come largely from the Bristol area, while around a third of pupils are boarders, many from international backgrounds. The school welcomes pupils with a range of needs, including those with special educational needs and disabilities and those for whom English is an additional language, with specialist support available for both groups. The school aims to nurture intellectual curiosity alongside academic excellence, encouraging each pupil to fulfil their individual potential in extra-curricular activities as well as the classroom. Pastoral care is central to school life, with an emphasis on respect, tolerance, and personal responsibility, preparing pupils to go on as curious, confident, and courteous individuals ready to thrive in a wider global society.
