About Yarrells Preparatory School
Yarrells School is an independent co-educational day school set within a beautiful Edwardian mansion, surrounded by gardens, parkland and woods in Poole. Originally founded in Kent in 1927 and relocated to Poole in 1940, the school offers a warm and stimulating environment for children from Early Years through to Year 6, encompassing both a pre-prep and prep department. The school is committed to helping every child grow in confidence, resilience and independence, learning from their experiences and discovering their own individual talents in preparation for senior school and beyond. Pupils benefit from a broad curriculum that is thoughtfully adapted to meet a range of needs, with additional support available for those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, as well as for those for whom English is an additional language. The most able pupils are also provided with enriched and extended learning opportunities. Most pupils come from professional families living within a 15-mile radius of the school, creating a close-knit and engaged community. The school is led by a head appointed in September 2018, supported by proprietors and a small number of advisory governors.
