About Wellow House School
Wellow House School is an independent day school welcoming boys and girls aged three to thirteen. Established in 1971, the school became co-educational in 1985 and added a pre-preparatory department in 1987. It is owned and governed by Alpha Schools Ltd. The school is structured across four sections, covering Early Years Foundation Stage, pre-prep, prep, and seniors up to Year 8. The school aims to make the most of each pupil's academic potential, to develop individual talents, and to educate pupils in good citizenship. It seeks to achieve this through a close and supportive rapport between teachers and pupils, a family atmosphere of care and welfare, and an extensive programme of after-school activities. Most pupils live within twenty miles of the school and many come from business or farming backgrounds. The school provides additional specialist help for pupils with special educational needs, and adapts its curriculum to support those with particular talents in music, art and sport. Pupils go on to a variety of senior schools, both boarding and day.
