About The King's School Canterbury, Junior King's
Junior King's School is an independent day and boarding school welcoming boys and girls aged 2 to 13. Founded in 1879 as the preparatory school for The King's School, Canterbury, it moved to its current site in 1929 and remains part of that foundation. The school is organised into two departments: a pre-prep for children aged 2 to 7, and a prep for those aged 7 to 13, with two boarding houses at the heart of school life. The school aims to encourage every pupil to reach their potential, nurturing their physical, social, spiritual, cultural and intellectual development. Creativity and sport are valued alongside academic learning, with the goal of building confident foundations for life. The school draws pupils from a wide local area as well as from a number of other countries, creating a friendly and varied community. Support is available for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, as well as for those for whom English is an additional language. More able pupils, and those with particular talents in sport and the arts, are stretched through scholarship classes and advanced activities.
