About Terrington Hall School
Terrington Hall is an independent day and boarding school welcoming girls and boys aged 3 to 13. Originally a boys' boarding school, it became co-educational in the 1980s and is now governed by a board of trustees as an educational trust. The school is organised into three sections: pre-prep (including Early Years) for children aged 3 to 7, lower prep for ages 7 to 10, and upper prep for ages 10 to 13. Flexi-boarding is available from Year 3 onwards, with separate accommodation for boys and girls within the main school building. At the heart of the school is a commitment to creating a challenging yet supportive environment where every child's individuality is respected and a close-knit family community is encouraged. The school places children's happiness, confidence and development at the centre of everything it does, whilst nurturing qualities such as independence, resilience, imagination, responsibility and leadership. Pupils come from a range of professional and business backgrounds, predominantly from families living in North Yorkshire. The school supports a number of pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, including dyslexia and dyspraxia, and makes tailored provision for those with particular talents in areas such as art, drama, music and sport.
