About Summer Fields
Summer Fields School is an independent day and boarding school for boys, founded in 1864 on its current site. It is run as a charitable trust overseen by a board of governors. The school welcomes pupils from the age of four, with a pre-prep for boys aged four to eight and a prep for those aged eight to thirteen. Boarders are accommodated in one of six lodges on site, grouped by age. The school is committed to providing a broad education — intellectual, moral, technical and physical — and to nurturing a genuine love of learning in every pupil. It aims to give each boy the opportunity to stretch his individual abilities as fully as possible. The school community is a varied one, with most pupils coming from British professional families and a small number joining from overseas. Support is available for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, including dyslexia and dyspraxia, as well as for those who speak English as an additional language. The curriculum is also adapted for pupils identified as more able, as well as for those with particular talents in sport, music and drama.
