About Sidcot School
Sidcot School is a co-educational independent boarding and day school welcoming pupils aged 3 to 19 years. Its Quaker foundation dates back to 1699, when the school was established in Sithcott to teach boys of Quaker families. It briefly moved to Yatton before reopening in 1808 on its present site as a co-educational school. The school is governed by a board of up to eighteen governors, at least half of whom are members of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). The school is made up of a junior day school, covering the Early Years Foundation Stage through to age 11, and a senior school offering both boarding and day places for pupils aged 11 to 19. The boarding community is accommodated across five boarding houses. Quaker values of truth and integrity, equality and community, peace, simplicity and sustainability sit at the heart of the school's educational provision, with a focus on supporting every pupil to grow as an individual with their full range of talents recognised and celebrated. Day pupils come largely from professional families living within Somerset, while the boarding community brings together young people from more than 30 countries. The school has identified a number of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, all of whom receive additional specialist help, and provides additional English language support for pupils who speak English as an additional language.
