About Shebbear College
Shebbear College is an independent co-educational day and boarding school for pupils aged 4 to 18, set on an 85-acre site in the north Devon countryside. Founded in 1841, the school is a member of the Methodist Independent Schools Trust and is governed by a board of governors. All school buildings, including the prep school and two boarding houses, are located within the site. The school is organised into three sections: a prep school for Reception to Year 6, a senior school for Years 7 to 11, and a sixth form. Pupils come from a broad range of backgrounds, mainly professional, with day pupils travelling from across the south-west and many choosing to flexi or weekly board. Overseas boarders come principally from Western Europe and Asia. At the heart of school life are six values — compassion, courtesy, creativity, curiosity, confidence and courage — which guide the school's aim to develop well-rounded, caring and well-motivated young people. The school provides additional support for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, those with English as an additional language, and offers a scholarship programme to provide further challenge and stimulation for gifted and talented pupils.
