About Queen Anne's School
Queen Anne's School is an independent day and boarding school for girls aged eleven to nineteen, situated in Caversham. The school has a long history, having been founded in 1698 in Westminster as the Grey Coat Hospital, before becoming a girls' school in 1874 and moving to its current site in 1894. It is part of the Grey Coat Hospital Foundation, whose charitable purpose is the provision of education with a Christian ethos, and girls of all faiths or none are warmly welcomed. The school aims to promote excellence across all areas of education, helping girls to grow into strong, creative and enterprising individuals. Within the boarding community, particular care is taken to support girls in building good relationships and developing independence and self-reliance. Day pupils join from Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, whilst boarders come largely from the south of England as well as from countries in Europe, Africa and Asia. Girls are accommodated in four age-related boarding houses alongside three day houses. The school provides specialist learning support for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, and also offers support for those learning English as an additional language.
