About Putney High School GDST
Putney High School is an independent day school for girls, established in 1893 and owned by the Girls' Day School Trust (GDST), a registered charity. A local board of governors provides advice and support, and the school is led by an acting head who took up her post in April 2023. The Athena building has been created to house sciences, music and drama facilities. The school aims to nurture intellectual curiosity and agility, encouraging pupils to be ambitious and unafraid of challenge. It seeks to develop a scholarly and bold approach to learning, alongside qualities such as integrity, compassion, respect and an understanding of social responsibility. Pupils come from a wide range of professional and diverse backgrounds across London. The school supports those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, including dyslexia and dyspraxia, as well as pupils for whom English is an additional language. Extension work and challenge are provided for all pupils, both within and beyond the classroom.
