About Plymouth College

Plymouth College is an independent day and boarding school welcoming boys and girls from the age of two through to eighteen. Founded in 1877, the school is a charitable trust governed by a board of governors. The prep school, which includes provision for the youngest children, is situated on a separate site around three miles away and has its own management structure, with pupils joining the senior school at age eleven. Boarding is available at the senior school, predominantly across two houses. The school aims to nurture happy, knowledgeable and caring young people who grow in confidence and strive to reach their full potential. It seeks to be a community in which every individual is valued equally, recognising that talent and ability can take many forms, both inside and outside the classroom. Most pupils come from the local area, with many families living within a 50-mile radius of the school. The boarding community, which makes up around a fifth of the school, brings together pupils from more than 35 different cultural and language backgrounds. The school supports a range of learning needs, including pupils with special educational needs and disabilities and those for whom English is an additional language, as well as those with particular talents in performance sport.
