About New College School

New College School is an independent day school for boys, founded in 1379 to provide education for the choristers of New College, Oxford. Over the centuries it has grown considerably, moving to its present site in 1903. The school is owned by New College, with oversight and administration delegated to a governing committee of fellows and external members, chaired by the college warden. The school welcomes boys from age four to thirteen, with a pre-prep department for pupils aged four to seven and a prep department for those aged seven to thirteen. It continues its long tradition of educating the choristers of the college, and the curriculum is delivered within the Pre-Senior Baccalaureate framework. The school seeks to foster intellectual curiosity, a lifelong enjoyment of learning, and values of courtesy, mutual respect and tolerance, alongside spiritual and moral awareness. Pupils come from a range of professional backgrounds, mostly living within a 10-mile radius of the school. The school provides additional specialist support for a number of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, and makes modifications to the curriculum for those identified as the most able, including those with particular talents in art, music, drama, sport or leadership.
