About Merchant Taylors' Schools
Merchant Taylors' Boys' School is an independent day school for male pupils situated in Crosby, north of Liverpool. Founded in 1620 by John Harrison, a Merchant Taylor of London, it is one of a family of three schools that also includes a co-educational preparatory school and a senior school for girls aged 11 to 18. The schools are overseen by a single governing body and led by an executive head, and pupils from the two senior schools share lessons in a number of subjects. The school aims to provide a caring, nurturing environment that sits at the heart of its community. It seeks to prepare pupils for the changing world of education and work, fostering a genuine passion for learning and encouraging every pupil to reach their potential across all aspects of school life. Pupils join from a wide range of professional and business family backgrounds, travelling from a broad area to attend. The school is committed to supporting every pupil, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, those for whom English is an additional language, and those who are particularly able or talented, offering tailored support or an enhanced curriculum where appropriate.
