About Mander Portman Woodward (MPW)
Mander Portman Woodward is an independent co-educational day school founded in 1973, now located on a site it has occupied since 2000. It is part of the MPW group, which also has schools in Birmingham and Cambridge, all overseen by a shared governing body. The school aims to encourage students to hold high academic aspirations, working closely with parents to help them reach their goals. It offers a broad and flexible curriculum with bespoke programmes of study, alongside a pastoral system tailored to individual needs. Students are supported in making informed choices about higher education and careers, all within a friendly and informal environment where they can develop both as individuals and as members of society. Students come from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, with around a third holding a nationality other than British. The school provides additional support for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, as well as for those for whom English is an additional language. The needs of the most able students are also catered for through wider challenges and extension tasks within the curriculum.
