About Lorenden Preparatory School
Lorenden School is an independent coeducational day school welcoming pupils aged 3 to 11. Founded in 1993, the school became part of the Methodist Independent Schools Trust in 2015, with governance oversight held by Kent College, Canterbury, and most day-to-day matters delegated to the Lorenden Governing Committee. The school is organised into three departments: Early Years Foundation Stage for children aged 3 to 5, Pre-Prep for those aged 5 to 7, and Prep for pupils aged 7 to 11. At the heart of the school is a commitment to creating a caring, family-like environment where good manners, kindness, and perseverance are encouraged. The school aims to nurture self-disciplined, thoughtful children with a cheerful, can-do attitude and a strong sense of fair play, so that every pupil leaves well prepared socially, physically, and intellectually for the next stage of their education. Pupils come from a range of professional backgrounds and mostly live within a 15-mile radius of the school. The school supports pupils with a variety of needs, including those with special educational needs and disabilities, those for whom English is an additional language, and those identified as the most able, with tailored support provided by classroom teachers and specialist staff as appropriate.
