About Haileybury

Haileybury and Imperial Service College is an independent co-educational boarding and day school with a long and distinctive history. Founded in 1862 in buildings that once housed the training college of the East India Company, the school amalgamated with Imperial Service College in 1942 and has welcomed girls since 1973. Incorporated by Royal Charter, it is a Christian foundation governed by a council of charity trustees. The school offers twelve senior houses for pupils in Years 9 to 13, as well as two Lower School houses for Years 7 and 8. Around two-thirds of pupils are boarders, and 37 nationalities are represented across the school community. The school places a strong emphasis on holistic education, encouraging every pupil to develop character, resilience and leadership alongside their academic studies. A wide range of co-curricular activities supports this aim, helping pupils to build confidence, team spirit and a sense of social responsibility. The school supports a range of additional needs within its community, including pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, those for whom English is an additional language, and its most able learners, all of whom receive tailored provision. Pupils leave Haileybury equipped with both the academic credentials and the life skills to thrive beyond school.
