About Felsted School
Felsted School is a co-educational independent boarding and day school welcoming pupils aged 4 to 19. Founded in 1564 and operating as a registered charity, the school is governed by the directors of Felsted School Trustees Ltd. The prep and senior schools are registered as a single school, with boarding central to school life — approximately two thirds of pupils in Year 7 and above are boarders, accommodated across nine boarding houses. The school aims to support pupils academically, personally and holistically, drawing on its Christian foundation to help young people become life-long learners and engaged members of both local and global communities. It provides a range of academic and co-curricular opportunities and encourages pupils to develop a sound understanding of their own abilities. Pupils come from professional and business families of Christian and other faiths, from the local area, London and overseas. The school supports 244 pupils identified as having special educational needs and/or disabilities, including dyslexia, dyspraxia and attention deficit disorder, with 156 of these receiving additional support. English is an additional language for 133 pupils, 26 of whom receive extra help with their English.
