About Copthill Independent Day School & Nursery

Copthill School is a co-educational day school welcoming children from the age of 2 through to 11. It began as a Nursery school in 1969 and has grown over the years into a Nursery and preparatory school. The school is divided into the Early Years Foundation Stage, catering for children aged 2 to 5, and the main school for pupils in Years 1 to 6. It remains a family-owned and family-run school, with a small advisory panel working alongside the board of directors to support the school's work. The school aims to provide a welcoming, stimulating and happy environment in which every pupil is encouraged to succeed. It offers a broad curriculum designed to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes that pupils will carry with them throughout their lives, with a particular emphasis on making use of the outdoor environment. The school prepares its pupils for entry to a wide range of state and independent senior schools. Pupils come from a range of business and professional backgrounds and live mostly within a 20-mile radius of the school. The school supports a number of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, and provides additional help for those who speak English as an additional language. Pupils identified as more able or as having particular talents are supported through extra-curricular activities, enrichment opportunities, and extension work within the curriculum.
