About Bishopsgate School

Bishopsgate School is an independent co-educational day school established in 1996, following the merger of two local preparatory schools. It is administered by a board of governors and is organised into three sections: the Early Years Foundation Stage, Juniors for Years 1 to 6, and Seniors for Years 7 and 8. The school has added a sports hall, an all-weather pitch, and dedicated science, food technology and computing classrooms. The school aims to prepare pupils for life in the twenty-first century, helping them to build the mental, emotional, social and strategic resources to enjoy challenge and cope with uncertainty and complexity. It encourages each child to discover what they would love to be good at, while developing the will and skill to pursue those interests. Communication, thinking and learning, independence, collaboration, leadership and resilience are among the core aptitudes the school seeks to nurture. Pupils typically live within a five-mile radius of the school and their families are representative of the local community. The school supports pupils with a range of special educational needs and/or disabilities, as well as those for whom English is an additional language, with specialist help provided in the classroom or in individual and small group settings. The needs of more able pupils and those with special talents in sport and the creative and performing arts are met within the curriculum.
