About Abbey College Manchester
Abbey College Manchester is a co-educational, independent college located in the city centre, occupying seven floors of a modern office block. Established in 1990, the college is owned and governed by the Alpha Plus Group Ltd. It offers one-year and two-year courses leading to GCSE, A level, and further education qualifications. Boarding provision is available, with younger pupils arranged in lodgings with local host families, while older pupils may choose to stay with a host family or in the pupil residence, which is within a 15-minute walk from the college. The college aims to guide pupils towards academic success and to help them fulfil their aspirations. It seeks to provide a friendly, safe, and supportive environment where pupils can grow in confidence, learn to make informed decisions, and contribute positively to the community. Pupils come from the local area as well as a range of countries around the world. Support is in place for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, and English as an additional language is catered for through classroom teaching and dedicated lessons. The most able pupils are offered additional challenge through academic enrichment classes.
